Power-to-X in Germany
In mid-2023, Germany announced a law that allows for state support for green energy technologies. This provides an opportunity for Danish companies to capitalize on investments in German green energy chains, including hydrogen, wind, and solar, while maintaining their own competitive capabilities.
In March 2023, the Danish and German climate ministers signed a declaration regarding a new hydrogen pipeline, which is expected to be completed by 2028. The Danish-German collaboration on the hydrogen pipeline is relevant for Danish companies in light of the comprehensive agreement on Power-to-X that the Danish Parliament entered into in March 2022.
With the aim of exporting the majority of the desired Danish electrolysis capacity of 4-6 GW by 2030 to the substantial market and hydrogen demand in Germany, there are significant opportunities for export and further development of Danish products and solutions for Danish companies looking to engage in the Power-to-X sector in one way or another.
